Bobby Darin & Sandra Dee


The Beginning of Their Lives Together

        Here are some pictures from Photoplay magazine March 1961, showing Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee at the airport in New York shortly after their early morning marriage in New Jersey. They were on their way to Los Angeles for their four day Honeymoon. Below is the account that was in the magazine:


        8:10 AM-- Still wearing the same wedding dress he was married in, Sandy held tightly to Bobby's hand when they arrived at the airport....8:20 AM-- They checked in at the ticket window, then they sat down to wait until take off. The terminal was chilly.... 8:35 AM-- Neither smiled. Sandy rummaged for a sweater. Bobby looked concerned. Before coming to the airport, they'd had an hour to themselves. "Don't tell anyone were here," Bobby said.


        9:00AM-- They hurried across the field to the boarding ramp alone. No one had come to see them off. 9:30 AM-- They were both tired. When the stewardess called her Mrs. Darin, Sandy smiled for the first time...1:20PM--The plane laded in Los Angeles. "I'm so happy," Sandy told a friend, but she was crying.
