Fred: Hello, Sandra Dee, you're looking
prettier than ever.
Sandra: Thanks, I feel great.
Fred: You should, you just completed
a role in a new picture. Tell me, do you prefer working with or without your
husband?
Sandra: I find it more challenging to
work with Bobby because I want to be so good for him. With a leading man
you can go home and think, well I really did better than he did, and you'd
be right. Here you never can go home. If you did something bad--a scene
maybe, or flubbed lines--the co-star goes home with you, you don't
forget.
Fred: Is it a good idea for a husband and
wife to act together?
Sandra: A while back I said never, never. But
now I think comedies are alright to make together. For me and Bobby
they're fun. I don't know about making a passionate love story, even
if it's appealing for an audience to see a husband and wife make love on the screen.
But comedy is a ball and Bobby has a great sense of comedy.
Fred: Some people think of him as a dramatic actor,
you know.
Sandra: He's funnier than he is dramatic,
that is my opinion.
Fred: He's searching an image, Sandra.
He's so versatile that he really has no definite marketable personality
as yet.
Sandra: I know. He's so good at everything,
it's hard. Me, I'm good at nothing but walking on the set with a pretty dress.
Fred: You're pretty good with Dodd Mitchell--he must
talk a blue streak by now.
Sandra: Oh, I can't shut him up! I couldn't
wait for him to talk , now I can't wait for him to stop. It's really
just too much.

Fred: Bobby was telling me how
adorable he in in the morning when he says "I going to school."
Sandra: Yes, he also says, "How
do I look, Dad?" Bobby looks at him and says ,"Very handsome",
and he's so proud. Dodd's got a tie, a blazer and the cutest
little cap. You should see him.
Fred: Is it rough taking care of
Dodd and having a full-blown career at the same time, Sandy?
Sandra: No. I work two minutes from home,
so I normally go home for lunch, and since Dodd's in school only until
noon, I have lunch with him. It's a good arrangement. Then he naps for
about two hours and by that time I'm home again.
Fred: So Sandra Dee is a happy contented
actress and mommy. I'm delighted to see it. I wish you the best.
