Wyatt Cosgrove tells Jeff very sad news, Buddy's pet Ned is dying. He takes Ned to his home where he will put him to sleep. When Jeff tells Buddy, she is very upset. She runs off , not knowing Jeff's intentions of buying her a new horse.

Later, Penny meets Jeff outside the house when he arrives home, asking where Buddy is. Jeff thought she was with Penny, so both are worried. Jeff goes looking for her, but she cannot be found. Meanwhile, Buddy has gotten herself lost in the mountains, with only her dog Skippy by her side.
