Meeting Sandra Dee

Up Close and Personal!

By Maureen, a life long Sandra Dee Fan

I met Sandra Dee at a movie theatre near Sanford University 2 or 3 years ago. She was there at a viewing of "The Reluctant Debutante". My husband spotted the article on her future appearance and knew I'd love to see her up close and in person. So off we went to see a movie I know very well (having it on video) and after the movie she and John Saxon answered questions from the audience. After that she walked up the aisle right past me. I took a picture but her head was turned. Out in the lobby I tried to stay as close to her as possible when suddenly she decided to go behind the candy counter and sign autographs. My husband and son "lost me" but knew I must be on to something and they hung around in front allowing me the opportunity to see her. I clutched a folder full of old pictures from Fan Magazines like Photoplay and when I finally got up close to get an autograph, I asked her to sign one of my favorites. She did and I snapped a picture of her. I apologized to her for "blinding her" and she was great about it. She also was stunned to see some of those pictures again (as well as the people around me) and looked at a few. I'll treasure those moments for a long time !
