Gerta meets many characters along the way who help her in her search for Kai.

With the help of a young girl named Angel who gives Gerta her horse Bucky, Gerta travels through a severe snowstorm to Finland and finally finds Kai,in a big ice palace.His heart is bitter and frozen.At first he does not remember Gerta, but when Gerta hugs him, Kais heart melts and a ice splinter falls from his eye.The couple are almost free, but the Snow Queen makes one more appearance staking her claim to Kai. Gerta boldly pleas, "Leave us alone, hes mine!".

Then the Snow Queen slowly melts away.Gerta and Kai return to their homes and their rose gardens and "live happily ever after" together.
